Holland is a very small country in Europe, it is only 41526 square kilometre or 16033 square miles. It's neigbour countries are: Germany, Belgium and across the North-Sea; the United Kingdom.

The Netherlands recently reached a population of 16 million inhabitants. It is densely populated, specialy in the western part.

Holland is a kingdom, although the queen does not govern the country she is head of state and she represents our country here and abroad. More about the queen

Holland / the Netherlands is divided is 12 provinces:

  1. Groningen
  2. Friesland
  3. Drenthe
  4. Overijssel
  5. Gelderland
  6. Flevoland
  7. Utrecht
  8. Noord-Holland
  9. Zuid-Holland
  10. Zeeland
  11. Noord-Brabant
  12. Limburg

The Dutch currency was for a long time Guilders or guldens, but since january 2002 this has changed to Euro. Several European countries, united in the European Union, have agreed to have a common currency which will be the same in 12 countries: Holland, Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Finland and Austria.
