Some pointers for the pronounciation: |
| a | - | as the a in basket (but the way the british say it) |
| aa | - | this is a tough one, a bit as the "a" but longer |
| ie | - | as "ee" in knee |
| ooi | - | as "oy" in boy |
| oe | - | as "oo" in book |
| g | - | as if you have something in your throat (?) |
| ou | - | as in about |

Speak Dutch I often get questions about learning to speak dutch, off course I can't teach you, the words on this webpage are just for fun. The only thing I could recommend you is; try to find a travel language guide, for the dutch language. In Holland you can buy them in all the bookstores in many different languages. In this books are the most used everyday words and sentences translated from english to dutch.(or other languages) I think they must be available in other countries too, or mabye the bookstore can order it? When this doesn't work and you know someone in the Netherlands (a relative, a friend) to buy a dutch-english guide in Holland and send it to you. Only the pronouciation will be difficult in that case Good luck :-) |
